One alley in North Kolkata. The same hour, for three months. What I learned.
There is an alley in North Kolkata where the buildings are close enough that direct sunlight only hits the ground for about forty minutes in the morning.
I found it by accident in 2019. For the next three months, I went back to that alley at the same time every morning. Same light, different people. Same compositions, different moments.
What I learned: light does not illuminate a scene. Light reveals it. Photography is the art of choosing when to look as much as where to look.
